(VOVWORLD) - An exhibit called “Steel in Prison” opened at the Hoa Lo Prison Museum in Hanoi as part of activities to mark the 70th anniversary of War Invalids and Martyrs Day on July 27.

More than 250 photos and objects are on display around 3 themes: “The desire for freedom”, “Steel in Prison”, and “Paying debt of gratitude, human love”.

The exhibit is drawing crowds of visitors.

The stories of the soldiers and war martyrs who sacrificed for national liberation, especially during the time they were detained and tortured at ‘the hell on earth”, deeply impress visitors.

The section “Paying debt of gratitude, human love” deeply touches visitors’ emotions.

Inside the prison is the display of documents and objects.

A photo of soldiers detained by the French colonialists.

Wax statues representing the brutal torture by French colonialists.

A guillotine used at the prison.

Articles and historical documents introduce the lives and the revolutionary cause of loyal Vietnamese soldiers.

The exhibit gives insights into Vietnam’s glorious history and the Vietnamese people’s respect for those who sacrificed for the nation.

The exhibit will run until September.
