Nguyen Danh Huy, Director of the Planning and Investment Department of the Ministry of Transport, said the sector disbursed 16.6 trillion VND (nearly 717 million USD) by the end of July, accounting for 41%. By the end of August, it’s estimated to disburse 20.5 trillion VND (885 million USD).

“Over the past months, the disbursement of public investment projects has been accelerated. In July the figure was around 41% of the whole year and increased to 58% in August. It’s expected to reach 66% by the end of September, including the disbursement of domestic and foreign investment capital,” said Huy.

The achievements are attributed to joint efforts and close coordination of project management units and functional agencies.

The investment capital disbursement for the North-South Highway project has regularly increased each quarter in which the disbursement for land clearance has reached more than 90%.

Le Kim Thanh, Director of the Public Private Partnership Department of the Ministry of Transport, said, “After the National Assembly decided to change 3 projects into public investment projects, 5 other projects are made available for bidding. So far, 14 of 16 investors have registered tendering. We will focus on land clearance. As soon as investors are selected in the third quarter, 90% of land clearance will be completed and ready for handover.”

The transport sector aims to fulfill the disbursement plan this year as part of its efforts to realize the dual goal assigned by the Prime Minister. In the coming time, the sector will focus on key national transport projects to contribute to the accomplishment of national socio-economic targets.
