Hoi An is beautiful with ancient houses, souvenir shops, tailor shops, cyclo drivers, street vendors, lantern-sparkled nights, performances of folk songs and arts. All these make Hoi An beautiful and friendly. Every time they visit the town, visitors always have different impressions. American writer Henry Miller once said “our destination is not a land but a new way to look at it”. Cris Cao is an overseas Vietnamese living in Australia: “It’s a beautiful town. It’s very unique reminding me of a European town. You can do a bit of everything here, so not one thing in particular, but everything. That’s why it is the best. In Hoi An, you can go to beach, you can go shopping, you can relax. It’s romantic. It’s fun. There’s a variety of things”.

Hoi An inspires its visitors with beautiful paths zigzagging around green rice fields and village paths lined between palm trees.  Many visitors are interested in riding bicycles around the town. Cris Cao told VOV: “Hanoi and Sai gon are too busy. But here I ride all the time. I feel very comfortable riding here and also, you see a lot of foreigners riding bicycle. That’s a good sight. The road is very safe. It’s very easy to ride. Even when you walk in the old quarter, it’s quite comfortable and relaxed”.

Small restaurants on Bach Dang street by the Hoai river are the ideal places for visitors to enjoy local food such as Cao lau noodle, chicken rice, a variety of local pies and sweet soups. Visitors to Hoi An never miss a chance to taste the black sesame sweet soup by Ms Nguyen Thi Kieu Chinh. Chinh’s sweet soup is also very popular among local people. Ms Chinh said: “There are always from 50 to 100 customers a night. Some people eat two or even four bowls of soup. I also sell sweet soup with traditional herbs and sweet potato powder which are good for health”

Hoi An is peaceful and sparkling at night. All the visitors to the town are impressed by the sparkles from lanterns along the streets. The colorful lanterns make Hoi An more romantic, charming and inspiring to visitors.
