Festivities involving 1,000 people are featuring a multi-colored Vietnam through artistic programs and join activities introducing Vietnamese culture to international friends.
Trinh Ngoc Chung, Director of the Department of Ethnic Culture and Deputy Head of the Organizing Committee, said, “Unity gives us the opportunity to organize festivals that reenact the traditional cultural values of ethnic groups. All people can experience these values in the shared space of the National Village for Ethnic Culture and Tourism.”
The program “Colors of the Waterway Culture of Vinh Long” features cultural exchanges, heritage displays, and traditional crafts. From Friday to Sunday, visitors can enjoy folk singing and dancing, folk games of southern ethnic groups, Don ca tai tu (amateur) performances, and traditional Khmer art.
Khmer woman Lieu Thi Thanh Tuyen, who has participated in previous Weeks on “Great National Solidarity-Vietnam Cultural Heritage,” said, “I hope that the Khmer and people from other regions will learn more about Khmer cultural features and dances.”
At the Cham tower cultural space, there are singing and dancing performances by folk troupes from Khanh Hoa and a demonstration of making Bau Truc pottery, a UNESCO-recognized intangible cultural heritage.
Interethnic cultural exchanges across Vietnam contribute to preserving and promoting the nation’s rich cultural diversity.
