At a recent forum on the digital economy and e-commerce organized by the Vietnam Economic Institute, experts said digital transformation and the digital economy are clear global trends and irreversible.

Economist Vo Tri Thanh said, 'I remember that at the first workshop 3 years ago on the Industry 4.0 Revolution, 70% of 300 questioned businesses said they didn’t believe Vietnam could succeed 3 years later, Vietnamese businesses are more confident they can make it. A survey by the General Statistics Office of more than 152,000 Vietnamese businesses showed that 30% of Vietnamese businesses have invested in technology, particularly digital technology, and transformed their operation at some level. This is a positive sign.'

Digital transformation in Vietnam will be accelerated in order to drive economic growth. E-commerce, supported by available platforms and policies under the government master plan on e-commerce development until 2025, will make the transformation quicker and stronger. This is an opportunity for Vietnamese businesses and individuals to create new business strategies.

Le Duc Anh, Director of the Information and Digital Technology Center of the Ministry of Industry and Trade, said, 'We are working on solutions to support the market. We have created several platforms for producers and businesses. We have developed a data platform to evaluate indexes and data platforms on e-commerce transactions to help businesses make business policies and increase transparency in the e-commerce market.'

The Prime Minister recently asked the Ministry of Information and Communications to finalize a National Strategy on Digital Economy and Digital Society Development by August to serve as a basis for mobilizing resources for national digital transformation.
