During his tour of Khanh Hoa province on Sunday to inspect its implementation of the resolution, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh said Khanh Hoa province has an important strategic location for national socio-economic development and defense. He said the province needs to safely and flexibly adapt to, and effectively control, the current pandemic to create a foundation for rapid, sustainable economic recovery and development.

Mr. Chinh said it’s important to implement coordinated measures to promote the maritime economy and defend sea and island sovereignty, focusing on maritime tourism, services, industry, seaports, maritime-aviation transportation, coastal urban development, aquaculture, and natural resource exploitation and processing. He stressed the need to integrate national defense and security and maintaining political stability and social order into every policy, strategy, and plan for socio-economic development.

Prime Minister Chinh said: "Khanh Hoa should turn its Truong Sa island district into an economic, cultural, and social center at sea, and a firm wall protecting national sea and island sovereignty on the foundation of Vietnamese and international law, including the 1982 UN Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS). The province should focus on developing logistics services for the fisheries sector and help residents in the district maintain a stable life, while reinforcing national defense and security at sea."

The Prime Minister asked Khanh Hoa province to work closely with ministries and sectors to make full use of its potential and competitive advantages to boost its growth, and focus on planning the Van Phong Economic Zone and the Cam Lam airport urban area.

Mr. Chinh said Khanh Hoa province needs to strengthen its economic restructuring, shift its growth model toward technology and innovation, accelerate its digital transformation, and improve the quality of its human resources.

The province should cooperate with other provinces and domestic and foreign business groups to exploit its potential and strengths. The Prime Minister urged stronger administrative reforms and a better business environment to lure more investors.
