Both Beyonce and Adele have successful year 2016

83 awards will be announced, including Record of the Year, Album of the Year, Song of the Year and Best New Artists. Besides key general awards, organizers will grant special titles to Best Contemporary Instrumental Album and Best Contemporary Christian Music.

The list of nominees for key awards is unsurprisingly long, including Frank Ocean, Drake, Chance The Rapper, Alabama Shakes, Radiohead, Metallica and David Boie. Many of the nominees are non-white talents, which bucks the trend of recent major awards events. The competition between Beyonce and Adele is the most intense. Pop Queen Beyonce takes the lead with 9 nominations, including the Album of the Year for Lemonade and Song of the Year and Record of the Year for the solo Formation. British nightingale Adele has 5 nominations, including the Album of the Year, Record of the Year and Song of the Year. Both are worthy competitors and difficult to decide who is the winner.

Online editions are eligible to compete for the first time this year. This enables Chance The Rapper and its Coloring Book album, which is exclusively distributed on Apple Music, scoop 7 nominations, including Best New Artist.

Performances and host play a key role in the event’s success. James Corden is the first British to host the US show, succeeding LL Cool J, a familiar voice since 2012 Grammy Awards. Audience expects special music performance by Lady Gaga and Metallica with impressive treats by Beyonce, Adele, Bruno Mars, The Weeknd, Carrie Underwood, and Katy Perry.
