(VOVWORLD) - As the COVID-19 pandemic has raged, one of the most effective countermeasures has been digital technology. The Vietnamese government has adjusted its pandemic motto from “5K+vaccine” to “5K+vaccine+technology.”  The 5K rules include face masks, disinfection, distancing, no large gatherings, and health declarations

Vietnam has quickly applied advanced technology to anti-pandemic tasks like health declarations, contact tracing, testing and treatment.

The Bluezone app is mainly used to trace people who have had close contact with a COVID-19 patient. The app shows users their distance from other active app users. The two most popular health declaration apps in Vietnam are Ncovi and Vietnam Health Declaration (VHD), two voluntary health declaration apps for domestic use and foreign arrivals. The data are used by authorized agencies to detect risks and carry out appropriate preventive measures to prevent community infection.

Do Cong Anh, Deputy Director of the Informatics Department of the Ministry of Information and Communications, said: “The data is sent to epidemiologists to analyze, forecast pandemic development, and give recommendations to the Steering Committee and government leaders to make timely decisions.”

CovidMaps is an epidemiologic map of the COVID-19 pandemic. It provides realtime information to users so they can avoid COVID-19 hotspots, quarantine sites, and medical lockdown areas.

A 4th COVID-19 wave broke out in Vietnam during this scorching summer, which has made anti-pandemic efforts more difficulties.

Innovative anti-pandemic products include heat-proof COVID-19 test cabins designed by architect Khieu Huu Nghia and his colleagues, Phenikaa-X disinfection cabins, medical robots to transport drugs, food, and waste, and smart bracelets to monitor people under medical quarantine. Da Nang University of Technology has produced a cabin to transport COVID-19 patients within the hospital’s quarantine area. Doctor Le Van Sy, Director of Lien Chieu district’s Medical Center in Da Nang city, reviewed the use of the cabin at his hospital:

“We can’t use cars or emergency vehicles to transport patients inside the hospital. This cabin can be used to transport COVID-19 patients between buildings and into a patient room.”

Technology has provided timely, effective solutions for anti-pandemic work while conserving social resources.
