(VOVWORLD) - Son La province in the northwest of Vietnam has great investment potential thanks to its favorable weather and natural conditions. The province is designing further incentives for investors. Hong Viet reports.

Ngoc Ha Footwear Company has two factories in Son La province generating 1,700 jobs for local people with a monthly income of 200 USD each. This year, the company plans to expand its workshop and recruit an additional 200 workers.

Mr. Bui Manh Dung is Director of the Ngoc Ha Footwear Factory in Son La: “Our investment received support from the local administration. They helped us in providing land to build our factory in Phu Yen district.”

The Vietnam Sturgeon Company Ltd has been implementing a project on sturgeon caging in the reservoir of the Son La hydro-power plant in Muong La district since 2012. In 2016, the company caught a total of 26,500 sturgeons, each weighing between 3kg and 40kg. The company has 70,000 breeding sturgeon. It is cooperating with local farmers to produce breeding sturgeons and roe for export. Company Director Tran Van Tuan applauded strong support from the local administration: “Administrative procedures are often a problem for any investment project. But with the help from the provincial and district administrations, we settled this problem quickly.”

Thanks to its numerous investment incentives, the province has attracted 370 projects valued at more than 1 billion USD, of which 9 are foreign invested. Director of the Son La Department of Planning and Investment Le Hong Minh said: “The province will strengthen measures to improve its investment environment. We want to facilitate enterprises in land access by publicizing land use plans and land lease prices. We have implemented our commitments to the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry to facilitate enterprises and cooperatives.”

Son La province intends to attract an additional 300 projects worth a total of 1.6 billion USD.
