Vietnam continues to perceive technological advances
Technological innovation, particularly high technology, information technology, bio-technology, and automation technology, have created breakthrough revolutions. Minister of Science and Technology Chu Ngoc Anh said: “The 4th Industrial Revolution is creating opportunities for Vietnam to boost its digital economy, production, smart services,smart tourism, smart agriculture, banking, and financial services in order to increase productivity and benefits for the State, enterprises, and the public.”
Last year Vietnam organized the Program of Connecting Vietnam Innovation Network 2018, the World Economic Forum on ASEAN, Techfest 2018 (the National Innovation Startups Festival). The Program of Connecting Vietnam Innovation Network 2018 was launched and continued with several cooperative programs between ministries, sectors, enterprises, and Vietnamese intellectuals.
Last month Hanwha Aero Engines Company Limited, a member of the Republic of Korea’s Hanwha Group, inaugurated a 200-million-USD aviation engine parts factory in Hanoi’s Hoa Lac Hi-tech Park. The plant is expected to roll out its first products this month. This is the first high-tech plant for producing aviation engines in Vietnam. Last year Professor Dam Thanh Son of the University of Chicago was one of three scientists awarded the 2018 Dirac Medal and Prize by the International Centre for Theoretical Physics (ICTP) for their independent contributions to understanding novel phases in strongly interacting many-body systems. Nearly 1,000 research projects of the Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology were published in international magazines, 10% more than in 2017. Professor Chau Van Minh, President of the Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology, said: “We have promoted science and technology research and development to realize the 2016-2020 plan. We have increased the number of publications but focused more on their quality, strengthened technology incubators, and promoted research toward the 4th Industrial Revolution.”
