The Department of Health Examination and Treatment has asked hospitals to strengthen management of suspected coronavirus cases. The Department’s director Luong Ngoc Khue  the said hospital safety rules must be given top priority to prevent health care facilities from becoming COVID-19 hotspots.

"Hospitals need to implement disease prevention measures, and quarantine and test anyone with a cough, fever, or other COVID-19 symptoms. All health facilities need to mobilize sufficient resources to contain the virus." said Khue

Through screening and prompt quarantine, Thanh Nha hospital isolated 2 COVID-19 cases in Hanoi. Doctor

Nguyen Thi Lan Huong, the director of the hospital, said: "We have provided medical staff with protective equipment and trained them in COVID-19 diagnosis and treatment. This allowed us to promptly identify, isolate, and transfer 2 COVID-19 patients. Proper contamination control, routing, and patient treatment are vital."

Early detection and prompt treatment of patients prevents their transmitting the virus to medical staff and minimizes fatality risk.

When a suspected coronavirus infection is detected, hospitals must transport the patient to a designated hospital and not allow the patient to take public transportation, according to Deputy Minister of Health Nguyen Truong Son.

"We must prevent COVID-19 from spreading among patients with underlying diseases like diabetes or kidney failure. Failure to do so will increase the burden for the health care sector," said Son.
