(VOVWORLD) - A new tour of the Vietnam Fine Arts Museum is attracting large crowds of visitors. Thoughtful investment and creative programming have created an exciting new experience as the museum opens its doors at night for the first time to offer a variety of art and cultural activities.

The “Museum Night” tour is being piloted from 6:00 p.m. to 9:30 p.m on the last Friday of each month from October 2025 to March 2026, with a distinct theme each month, starting with “Charming Autumn” (October 31), “Stories of the Winter Streets” (November 28), and “Memories of December” (December 26). Nguyen Anh Minh, the museum’s Director, says “Museum Night” is a completely new way to see the museum.

Minh said:  “If you often go to the theatre in the evening to enjoy music or a play, you can now visit the Vietnam Fine Arts Museum to admire artworks in a quiet, romantic space and hear the stories behind them. We’ve created a special space where young people can explore the visual arts and develop their own creativity through games, workshops, and other interactive experiences.”

What makes “Museum Night” so appealing is that, in a single place, visitors can explore a variety of cultural and artistic experiences connected by a single theme.

Visitors can explore collections containing rare masterpieces using the iMuseum VFA automatic audio guide app, watch artists paint live and participate in sketching sessions in the museum courtyard. They are invited to try their hand at traditional crafts such as dó paper lantern decoration and woodblock printing, meet experts to learn about nine national treasures and other iconic works of Vietnamese fine arts. There are also live classical music performances by the Vietnam National Academy of Music.

Visitors are impressed with the new tour:

“There are three main differences. First is the timing. Most museums are open during the day, when it’s hot and people are often in a rush. But at night, we have more time to relax, enjoy the atmosphere, and attend expert talks. It’s a completely different feeling.”

“This is a breakthrough. In the past, museums, including the Fine Arts Museum, mainly displayed artworks with little interaction. This is the first time I’ve seen such interactive and performance-based activities. It’s truly a breakthrough that helps young people engage more deeply with Vietnamese culture.”

“Museum Night” is a public–private collaboration between the Vietnam Fine Arts Museum, the media platform Stories of Hanoi, the Hanoi FM cultural project group, and other partners and enterprises.
