Children in Mu Cang Chai celebrate the Mid-Autumn Festival 2017

Kim Noi is one of 7 communes in Yen Bai province, that were severely damaged by flashfloods in August. The communal authority organized a Full Moon party for 500 children from primary and secondary schools, who were happy to enjoy a lion dance, singing and dancing, and a feast. Giang A Lu said: “We’re glad they organized a Full Moon party for us. We promise to be good children and study harder.”

Charity groups have come to remote areas in Yen Bai province to deliver 4,000 gifts of books, school supplies, and daily necessities worth about 960 million VND to people affected by flooding.

The Mid-Autumn Festival in the Hai Son border commune, Quang Ninh province, was joyous with lanterns and lion performances. San Thi Phuong is a 7^th grader. “This year’s festival was bigger and more jubilant. The performances made us burst out laughing. I hope to have more Mid-Autumn Festivals as cheerful as this year.”

In Mok Trang village, Gia Lai province, young and old gathered in the cultural house for the Mid-Autumn Festival. Ro Cham Tiu, Vice Chairman of Ia Dom commune, said the local administration has organized Mid-Autumn Festivals in every village. “The commune funds villages and hamlets to organize Full Moon Watching parties and give gifts to children.”

Vice Secretary of Gia Lai province’s Youth Union, Phan Ho Giang, says: “Agencies and organizations have worked together to organize a cheerful Mid-Autumn Festival for children, especially in remote, ethnic communities.”
