Vietnam’s Lifelong Learning Week is associated with UNESCO’s four pillars of education: “Learning to know, Learning to do, Learning to live together, Learning to be.”

At a recent working session in Hanoi with the Standing Committee of the Vietnam Association for Promoting Education, General Secretary To Lam said: “Each community learning center must be upgraded to a digital learning center with internet access and open learning resources, meeting people’s learning needs, and aligning with the National Digital Transformation Program. The Vietnam Association for Promoting Education should connect businesses, social organizations, overseas Vietnamese, and the international community to form sustainable, transparent, universally accessible resources for promoting learning and developing talent. Each ministry, sector, and locality must, in their annual work programs, set specific targets and create a plan to build a learning society, considering it a regular political task.”

On this occasion, localities are organizing seminars and forums on technology trends, digital knowledge, and effective learning methods to raise public awareness and kindle a habit of lifelong learning. Digital technology platforms and social networks are being used to promote activities such as UNESCO Global Learning Cities tobuild a learning society. This week, exchanges between schools and businesses will be heldwith visits to companies, internships at technology enterprises, competitions and experiential activities in digital technology, programming, digital content creation, robotics design, artificial intelligence computer applications, and data science.

Lu Tang Tuyet Minh, a student at Can Tho University, said: “My major is education which plays a very important role in life. Teaching little children demands attention to ethics and character, and the ability to nurture their passion for learning. That helps children develop a good character as they grow up.”

This year’s Lifelong Learning Week underlinesthat learning drives personal development and technological mastery. In the digital era, lifelong learning isessential for everyone.
