The Week of Italian Cuisine opened with a Wine Festival last weekend at Casa Italy in Hanoi. 30 wines were available at an event modeled on the famous Vinitaly and Vinoforum wine festivals.

A dinner themed “Italian meal with the poet’s aesthetic spirit” was held Monday at the Red & Round Restaurant, District 7, Ho Chi Minh City, sponsored by the Consulate General of Italy and the Faculty of Italian Language, University of Social Sciences and Humanities. Diners enjoyed traditional Italian dishes while listening to a recitation of the 14th-century Inferno of Italian poet Dante Alighieri.

Two Italian fairs will be held at AEON Mall Tan Phu in Ho Chi Minh City from December 9-12 and at AEON Mall Hanoi from December 16-19 featuring specialties from Italian food importers and distributors.

The Week of Italian Cuisine is an initiative, involving the entire network of nearly 300 diplomatic and consular missions and Italian Cultural Institutes worldwide, to promote Italian culinary culture.

The theme this year, “Tradition and perspectives of Italian cuisine: the awareness and enhanced appreciation of food sustainability”, combines the promotion of Italian agri-food products with an enhanced appreciation of the Mediterranean Diet as a model of a healthy and sustainable diet and lifestyle.
