(VOVWORLD) - Over the years Hanoi has implemented a number of plans to promote intellectual property in order to improve the value of its agricultural products and crafts.

Hanoi has paid special attention to intellectual property development and achieved remarkable results in the field. The city approved the Intellectual Property Project under the Intellectual Property Development Program for Hanoi from 2019-2020.

In late 2021 the Department of Intellectual Property granted 18 certificates of protection to Hanoi brands, including Yen Nghia-Ha Dong vegetables, Dan Phuong flowers, Dong Cao-Me Linh red pomelos, Phuong Dinh-Dan Phuong livestock products, and Tan Vien-Ba Vi honey.

The Department of Science and Technology has submitted to the municipal People's Committee the names of 21 places to be registered for collective trademark protection. The Intellectual Property Office of the Department of Science and Technology regularly organizes training courses on trademark development for craft villages and agricultural products.

The Intellectual Property Development Program, which was approved by the Prime Minister in 2005, has been implemented in 3 phases. The Prime Minister has approved Hanoi’s Program on Intellectual Property Development to 2030 to raise public awareness, improve human resources, encourage innovation, and exploit and promote intellectual property rights.

Hanoi’s Department of Science and Technology has introduced a number of solutions to encourage innovation, promote intellectual property protection for products of the One Commune, One Product (OCOP) Program, improve management, and develop trademarks, geographical indications, growing area codes, food safety, quality certification, product authentication, and traceability.
