Hung Yen province held its largest-ever international workshop last week to sell Hung Yen longans and other farm produce, promote business cooperation and investment opportunities, and expand the market for local products.
More than 80 Vietnamese diplomatic and trade missions, international trade organizations, and other international organizations, and hundreds of businesses participated in the workshop.
Vu Ba Phu, Director of the Trade Promotion Department of the Ministry of Industry and Trade, said, 'Representatives of e-transaction floors also participated in this workshop. 5 of them will work with Hung Yen province and relevant agencies of the Ministry of Industry and Trade to sell longans and other agricultural products. E-commerce is an effective way to sell Hung Yen longans in the domestic and overseas markets.'
The COVID-19 pandemic has hurt the sales of agricultural products. The successful sales of Hai Duong lychees on e-transaction floors encouraged the Ministry of Industry and Trade and Hung Yen province to sell longans and other local specialties on the e-transaction floors and organize more trade promotion activities.
Vu Ba Phu said, 'E-commerce is a modern sales channel. Though the longan sales volume is not large – only 6,000 tons, compared to 215,000 tons of Bac Giang lychees – e-commerce is still an effective channel for promoting our local specialties. We believe e-transaction floors will be effective in expanding our markets.'
