President Ho Chi Minh is the noblest symbol of patriotism and revolutionary heroism of Vietnam. He devoted his whole life to the nation, the people, national liberation, class liberation, social liberation, and human liberation. His life and career became the revolutionary symbol making Vietnamese people and progressive people around the world aspired and confident in their struggle for independence, freedom, peace, democracy, and social progress.

HCM Thought is a system of his opinions, perceptions, and ideology concerning revolution and its path forward. It embraces the creative application and development of Marxism and Leninism to Vietnam, the continuation and development of values of the national tradition and cultural quintessence of the human kind. President Ho Chi Minh repeatedly affirmed that “The country of Vietnam is one, the people of Vietnam are one. The river may dry up, the mountain can be worn out, but that truth will never change”, “It is better to sacrifice everything than to lose the country, to live in slavery”, “Nothing is more precious than independence, freedom”, “No matter what sacrifice we have to devote, even if we have to burn down the whole of the Truong Son range, we must be determined to win back independence”, “My ultimate desire is to make our country completely independent, our people completely free, and our compatriots have means of subsistence and schooling, and our country has adequate position in the international arena”, “If the country is independent but people are not happy or free, then independence is meaningless’. He reiterated that independence must be linked with socialism, national liberation must be linked with class liberation, social liberation, and human liberation and all these could only be achieved by socialist revolution. Whether Vietnam becomes beautiful and is in par with other countries, it depends on national unity, the gathering of all forces, ethnicities, religions, and all patriotic Vietnamese people.
According to President Ho Chi Minh, to achieve national salvation and national liberation, there’s no other ways than the proletarian revolution: “Now there are many theories, many doctrines, but the most truthful and revolutionary is Marxism-Leninism.” The President said revolution is the cause of the people, by the people and for the people under the correct leadership of a truthful Party. A strong Party will make country strong because the Party is the vanguard and the leader of the working class, workers, and the whole nation.
HCM morality is revolutionary morality which embraces noble personalities of a revolutionist: industriousness, thrift, integrity, righteousness, and selflessness. Industriousness means hard working and being devoted to the nation and the people. Thrift means practicing thrift and not wasting public property. Integrity means maintaining noble, purity, and honor. Righteousness means staying upright, frank, and brave. Selflessness means working for the public and placing public interest on the top. President Ho Chi Minh was determined to fight individualism and paid attention to education and sharpening revolutionary morality. President Ho Chi Minh said a river has its source, without a source, the river will dry. A tree has its roots, without roots, the tree will dry. A revolutionist must have morality, without morality, he cannot lead the people despite being talent.
HCM lifestyle means a style of living modestly and simply, being close to the people, respecting, believing, and learning from the people and placing people’s interest at the top, and serving the people.
President Ho Chi Minh said each Party official and Party member must self-learn and constantly foster and sharpen their awareness, profession to become knowledgeable people and must be loyal to the Party and devoted to the people, fulfill any assigned tasks, overcome any difficulties, and defeat any enemies.
President Ho Chi Minh’s thought, morality and lifestyle are the invaluable spiritual assets of the Communist Party of Vietnam illuminating the revolution on its way to achieve victory after victory. In any circumstance and condition, the Vietnamese Party and people are always loyal and persistent with the ideology, goals and path of the revolution, perceive that “national independence is close linked with socialism”, and that Marxism-Leninism and HCM Thought are the ideological foundation and the guideline. The entire Party, army, and people are enthusiastically following HCM Thought, morality and lifestyle and are determined to achieve the goal of a rich people, a strong country, democracy, equality, and civilization.
