This year, Le Van Tam secondary school in Song Kon commune, Da Nang city, has 370 students in 10 classes. The school has been equipped with new classrooms and functional rooms and other classrooms have been renovated at a cost of 440,000 USD. All were completed in time for the opening ceremony.

Vice Principal Tran Thi Hoa said: “The new facilities, completed before the school year begins, will ensure better teaching and learning conditions, bringing excitement to both teachers and students. The school has also been equipped with computers for IT classes and TVs in classrooms. Earlier, our teachers visited each village and coordinated with parents and local authorities to encourage children to attend school and minimize dropout rates.”

Preparations were in full swing at Nhon Chau primary and secondary school in Nhon Chau commune, Gia Lai province. Vice Principal Ho Thi Lai said the school will welcome more than 200 students in 9 classes this year and the facilities meet basic teaching needs. Over the summer, the school worked with local organizations to secure textbooks and notebooks to ease the financial burden on parents, she said.

“Given the difficult conditions on the island and the high cost of new textbooks, the school has mobilized community support. So far, we’ve secured complete sets of textbooks for students from grades 6 to 9, as well as notebooks for all, to make sure they’re ready for the new school year,” said Lai.

Lang Son province has more than 400 schools and education centers, and over 150,000 students. Authorities have called for greater efforts to improve education quality in ethnic minority and disadvantaged areas, and to accelerate investment in border communes’ schools.

Deputy Chairman of the Lang Son People’s Committee Duong Xuan Huyen said: “The education sector needs to improve teaching quality in ethnic and disadvantaged areas, invest in infrastructure, and build ‘happy schools.’ Attention should be given to comprehensive education, particularly ethics, life skills, and physical development. We need to apply science and technology, foster innovation, expand cooperation and training linkages, and create greater opportunities for students to access new knowledge.”

In Can Tho, ahead of the 2025–2026 school year, local authorities have organized inspection teams to survey schools, check facilities and equipment, and ensure a safe, clean learning environment.
