Pho is considered the most typical Vietnamese food. Vietnamese people eat pho for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The simple dish has also become popular among foreigners.

In September, a program called “Buses of love” was launched to deliver pho to doctors on the frontline against COVID-19 and to COVID-19 patients in HCM City.

In Hanoi, Pho Bat Dan is a popular place to enjoy pho.

'Having a bowl of pho makes you relaxed and optimistic. The flavor of pho has not changed since my childhood.'

'The broth is fragrant with the typical sweetness of pho. Pho is delicious. The broth is clear and the beef is soft.'

'The broth is very tasty, Pho is part of Hanoi’s culture.'

What makes pho distinct is a mindful cooking process that creates multi-layered flavors and a clear broth. Ingredients like roasted ginger, fennel seed, star anise, and cinnamon are simmered in a stock that appeals to every palate.

Tran Thi Dieu Huong, who owns a chicken pho shop in Kim Nguu street, Hanoi, says. 'Pho in a large restaurant may not have the full flavor of Vietnamese pho. If you want to taste authentic Hanoi pho, you should buy it at a sidewalk restaurant where you can see people walking by and breathe air that is redolent of cinnamon, anise, and cardamom from the broth. This will give you the full flavor of pho.'

The Day of Pho has also been honored by Google. Ha Lam Tu Quynh, Communication Manager of Google Company in Asia Pacific says nearly 20 countries, including Vietnam, the UK, the US, Canada, Israel and Austria on December 12 featured a Google Doodle of pho.
