13th National Party Congress creates driving force for Vietnam to rise

(VOVWORLD) - The 13th National Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam took place from January 25 to February 1 in Hanoi. Delegates said the Congress’s results showed the historic responsibility of the Communist Party of Vietnam in national development by setting specific goals and a long-term vision to the middle of the 21st century.

The 13th National Party Congress fanned the flame of will and aspiration to turn Vietnam into a high-income developed country in the next 25 years.

Vision to the middle of the 21st century

The 13th National Party Congress took place with Vietnam facing opportunities, challenges, and new strategic issues which will have a strong impact on Vietnam and the world.

The Congress’s document targets making Vietnam a developing medium-income country with modern industry by 2030 and a high-income developed country by 2045.

The targets which were mentioned in the 2011 Platform have been raised. The Congress stressed said innovation and aspiration will develop Vietnam rapidly in the new period.

Tran Hoang Ngan, a deputy from Ho Chi Minh City, said: “Presentations at the Congress mentioned the establishment of a startup ecosystem and investment in digital transformation to develop a digital economy in order to raise productivity. The collected opinions show a strong desire to elevate Vietnam’s status and prestige. I think all delegates believe in the development strategy.”

The Congress agreed that never before has Vietnam had the potential, status, and prestige it does now, and Vietnam’s achievements will drive it forward.

Hoang Trung Dung, Secretary of Ha Tinh provincial Party Committee, said: “The Congress concluded successfully and its Resolution will soon be implemented. Its contents were thoroughly discussed and received strong support from the delegates.”

Special procedures to select leaderships

Personnel work and the agenda of Party Congresses have always been carefully prepared with full democracy, transparency, and objectivity.

The 13th National Party Congress began its personnel work in 2018. Congress delegates spent three days discussing and electing the 200 members of the 13th Party Central Committee.

The 13th Party Central Committee convened its first meeting to elect the Politburo, the Secretariat, and the General Secretary.

Party General Secretary and President Nguyen Phu Trong was reelected to serve as General Secretary of the 13th Party Central Committee.

The results reflected the effectiveness of the preparatory personnel work, which screened out unqualified or undeserving people from the Party Central Committee while including people with morality, talent, and a good reputation.

Ho Van Nien, Secretary of the Gia Lai provincial Party Committee, said: “Those elected to the 13th Party Central Committee are people with outstanding ability and wisdom capable of fulfilling their tenure and contributing to national development.”

Bui Huyen Mai, a delegate from Hanoi, said: Those Congress elected the best delegates to represent more than 5 million Party members and nearly 100 million Vietnamese.”

The success of the 13th National Party Congress showed the Party’s sense of responsibility and solidarity.

Feedback
