88-year-old People’s Artist Kim Duc is well known to VOV’s listeners for her sweet voice singing the beautiful melodies of Cheo traditional theater. She is the oldest artist to receive the title this year. Having devoted 60 years to singing Cheo tunes on the Voice of Vietnam, she never thought she would receive any distinction but always did her best to spread Cheo to a wider audience. Mrs. Duc said: “I’m very happy and moved to receive the title, particularly at my age.”

People’s Artist Phan Muon is known for his many inspiring songs about President Ho Chi Minh and the homeland. He has devoted the past 40 years to creating art and entertaining audiences. The distinction will motivate the artists to contribute more to the music sector. Hoang Tung, a young VOV singer, received the title Emeritus Artist. Tung said:  “I would like to thank the Voice of Vietnam for giving me a chance to come closer to listeners. VOV is a multimedia agency which allows us to sing on air and also perform in various programs to entertain people nationwide.”

Musician Pham Ngoc Khoi, Vice President of the Vietnam Musicians’ Association, praised the VOV artists for their efforts to make beautiful music programs saying their songs bring love to the audience:  “Artists must work very hard to attract an audience and keep them interested in their programs. VOV artists have made special contributions.”
