The book’s title is a reference to the game of chess, but that doesn’t mean the book is only suitable for those who like to play chess. It’s for anyone of any age.

The collection of 13 stories was written by Nguyen Huy Du and Nguyen Huu Huan who are laymen in literature. Nguyen Huy Du is an IT expert. Nguyen Huu Huan is a chess coach who also works for the Vietnam Pharmaceutical Corporation.

The work is a collection of bright, joyful stories for children told through chess pieces and chess games.

“Immortal warriors”, the first of 13 stories in “The draw move”.

Story titles include “Immortal warriors”, “Why are the chess pieces black and white?”, “The richest man in the kingdom of Babylon”, “A stupid move”, “The arrogant grandmaster”, “The draw move”, and “Why is there a queen on the chess board?”

The stories stimulate children’s imagination, intelligence, courage, and compassion and convey meaningful messages about family members, adults, and contemporary society.

In addition to the print version, a digital version of the book is available at ubase.vn, bundled with and online chess app which allows you to play against Vietnamese grandmasters.

51% of the profits from the first printing of 5,000 books will be donated to a literacy program for children in remote, border, and island areas, said Du.
