To mark the 80th anniversary of Vietnam’s National Day (September 2) and the municipal Party Congress for the 2025-2030 term, Da Nang inaugurated a statue of President Ho Chi Minh seated and reading a book at the Da Nang Library.

Many statues of President Ho Chi Minh show him standing and waving. Da Nang’s statue is unique and will promote a strong reading culture,” said Nguyen Phuong Hoa, a local resident.

The former Da Nang Museum has been relocated from the Dien Hai Citadel, a national special relic site, in order to better preserve the historical landmark. The 18-million-dollar new Da Nang Museum, which was inaugurated earlier this year, now houses 3,000 documents and artifacts blends traditional exhibitions with 3D films and interactive slides. It’s the first museum in Vietnam to use artificial intelligence for narration and presentation.

The first phase of a project to restore the Dien Hai citadel has been completed. The walls and moat have now been conserved. In the second phase, which is expected to be completed this year, well restore all the court structures – guardhouse, flag tower, gun storage, and granary – built during the reign of Emperor Minh Mang (in the 19th century),” said Huynh Dinh Quoc Thien, the museum’s director.

Other key projects include renovating the city’s Memorial Monument, expanding March 29 Square, upgrading March 29 Park, and restoring the Chua Cau (Japanese Covered Bridge) in Hoi An. Da Nang collaborated with the former Thua Thien-Hue province to restore the national relic site in Hai Van pass, an historic site on the boundary of the two localities that had badly deteriorated.

The Da Nang People’s Committee has approved an investment plan for a new Culture and Cinema Center, envisioned as a venue for major political events, festivals, and city conferences.

Da Nang has initiated numerous projects, the most recent of which is to develop the citys film center and promote the local film industry. In the future, Da Nang hopes to be one of Vietnams premier culture and cinema centers,” said Nguyen Thi Anh Thi, Vice Chairwoman of the Da Nang People’s Committee.

Da Nang is working to become the leading center for culture, arts, scientific research, and training of cultural and artistic human resources for the North Central and South Central coastal regions.

It prioritizes the preservation and promotion of its cultural heritages, particularly UNESCO-listed sites like the Hoi An Ancient Town and the My Son Sanctuary, while also restoring and national relics like the Marble Mountains and the Dong Duong Buddhist monastery.

By 2030, Da Nang aims to have fully restored all of its major relics and to have preserved and promoted all of its intangible heritages that are inscribed on the national list.
