APEC leadersadopted the Da Nang Declaration, a strong and timely message on APEC’ resolve to promote free trade and investment and inclusive and sustainable growth. The leaders were committed to maintaining cooperation and connectivity, enhancing free trade and investment facilitation, achieving the Bogor Goals, and improving growth quality.
The 3-day APEC CEO Summit drew representatives of top businesses and international economic institutions around the world. US President Donald Trump and Chinese President Xi Jinping delivered speeches at the event.
During the APEC Economic Leaders’ Week, economic ministers of 11 remaining Trans-Pacific Partnership members agreed to change the name of the ambitious trade pact into the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership. They agreed on the core elements of the original agreement signed last year but allowed the temporary suspension of some provisions.
APEC leaders and entrepreneurs praised Vietnam’s growing status, its economic prospects and efforts to improve the investment and business climate and expressed their willingness to expandcooperation with Vietnam.
Vietnam first hosted the APEC meetings in 2006. Only 8 of 21 APEC members have hosted this event twice.
