The annual festival opened on Saturday night with impressive shows of Danang-Vietnam team and the Russian team Fireworks Center Khan. The Russian performance touched spectators’ hearts with various types of fireworks, telling a story of their fierce rivers and the dance of fire and water. The host team’s display “The legendary river banks” showed the dynamism of the city during its global integration process, using lighting effects and fusion music in accompaniment. Huynh Ngoc Chinh, head of Vietnam team, said they fired more than 4,000 fireworks tubes. Chinh added: “Our show’s accompanying music is a fusion of Vietnamese pop and modern world music. It is divided into 5 parts, illustrating a process in which Danang has evolved from a primitive area to a livable city today.”

Among the 8 participating teams, Russia, Brazil, Belgium, Finland, England, and China are competing for the first time this year. Italy is the defending champion. Following the opening night, Team Brazil and Belgium will perform this Saturday, Finland and Italy on the next Saturday, and England and China one week afterwards. Cliff Hoodge, head of Team Belgium, said their performance called “The greatest show” will be thrilling. “It’s the story of the people who dedicate their life to perform and to go from city to city. In my profession, I and my team go from city to city. We work very hard and we hope all the people who pay and come to see our show are enjoying it," Hoodge said.

Alessandra Zanotto, head of Team Brazil, said: “Our show will be based more in shell, because the shell make people dream. To enjoy life in the best way, you need at first to have dreams and appreciate all the moments you have. We will have many shells, especially the bigger caliber and effects like strobe, especially lollipop. We will have more radial effects.”
Do Thanh Hai, Director of the Danang International Fireworks Festival 2019 said the audience will be amazed with a feast of light and sound, which enlivens the city by the Han River. He added: “The 5 nights of fireworks display will be the highlight of the festival. The festive atmosphere has spread everywhere. We are very keen to create a cultural and artistic space surrounding the fireworks performances.”
