During a talk in Hanoi on Wednesday between Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Pham Binh Minh and visiting Latvian Foreign Minister Edgars Rinkevics, both sides concurred to create favorable conditions for Vietnam’s exports of agro-forestry-seafood, garment and textile, footwear, wood, rattan, and bamboo products as well as Latvia’s exports of green technology, food processing, timber processing, and machinery.

Deputy Prime Minister Minh expressed his hope to continue receiving strong support and close coordination from Latvia during Vietnam’s term as a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council from 2020 to 2021.

Both leaders underscored the importance of peace, stability, security, safety and freedom of navigation. Latvia reiterated its support for settling disputes in the East Sea through peaceful means on the basis of international law, especially the 1982 UN Convention on the Law of Sea.
