(VOVWORLD) - Last week’s meeting of the Party Central Committee unanimously agreed on guidelines to finalize platforms and documents to be submitted to the 13th National Party Congress in 2021. The guidelines aim to consolidate Vietnam’s strategic position, consistently pursue the path to socialism, and confirm national stature globally.

Preparing for subsequent period

Nhi Le, Deputy Editor-in-chief of the Communist Review, said the 13th National Party Congress is strategically important as it will set out a vision to 2045, when Vietnam will mark its 100th founding anniversary. That’s why the Congress needs a momentous political platform which will encompass the joint wisdom of the people and the Party and the spirit of the era, and will live up to the people’s expectations. Mr. Le said: “The recent meeting commented on the platform outlines, which consist of a mindset frame, content, decisions, and necessary and sufficient conditions to implement the 2021-2026 vision. Huge tasks lie ahead.  I had high hopes of achievements of the 6 party tenures since 1986, when Vietnam embarked on the renewal process. The current 7th tenure of the renewal process will create a breakthrough and prepare an environment and a driving force for the subsequent tenure.”

Lt. Gen. Khuat  Duy  Tien, former commander of Army Corps 3, said he believes in the resolutions approved at the recent meeting of the Party Central Committee.

“We are appreciative of and hopeful about the 13th National Party Congress. Implementation of last week’s meeting’s resolutions will help Vietnam develop. Our Party is getting better and better and our people are placing more and more trust in the Party,” Mr. Tien said.

Creating strategic decisions, institutions

The 2021 Congress, which will elect the new Party Central Committee for a 5-year term, will adopt a strategic mindset and vision and create unique institutions and mechanisms. To do so, documents for the Congress must underline Party building and ways to make the Party and the political system pure and strong, and bolster the Party’s leadership and combative strength. Efforts should be made to improve the effectiveness of the State apparatus and promote national solidarity. Do Duy Thuong, a member of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Presidium, said:  “Direct and representative democracy must continue to be upheld to boost national solidarity and the people’s mastery. The draft documents must emphasize direct democracy of the people, particularly democracy at the grassroots level.”

At the closing ceremony of the Party Central Committee‘s meeting last Saturday, Party General Secretary and President Nguyen Phu Trong called on every Party member, no matter what position they hold, to fulfill their tasks. He reiterated his determination to see the fight against corruption through to final victory. Nguyen Tuc, a member of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Presidium, commented: “The Party Central Committee’s meeting addressed concerns of the cadres, Party members, and people. The people’s trust in the Party’s leadership can hardly be consolidated unless the responsibility and morality of Party members, particularly high-ranking officials, improves.”

The Party Central Committee‘s meeting was “a victorious and wonderful success”, as Party leader and President Trong put it.
