Reporter: Can I call you a baby shower planner? You seem to really enjoy planning a party for an expectant mother.
Marry Janny: I go to a lot of baby showers. Everyone is always having children and I love to help them to plan baby showers. I'm also a mom so I also have my own shower. So I would love to share some tips on planning baby shower.
Reporter: Lovely! I have to say that I know about baby shower but the concept is not really familiar around here. So, please tell us what we should do in case I may plan a baby shower for my best friend someday. Where do you often organize a party? It is popular to host the party at home?
Marry Janny: Maybe a home will be appropriate. If it is warmer or not so cold you may want to have the party outside, maybe at the park. You can always rent out a space. Well it depends on how much money you have.
Reporter: How about the invitation for the party?
Marry Janny: After you have the time the date and the place in order it is time to send out invitations. I personally like paper invitation. That's just my personal reference. I love to make invitations. There are so many designs you can find online. You can also create your own invitation. There are so many free templates you can use online. You are welcome to send invitation online.
Reporter: What impressed me the most is the decorations of the baby shower party! Do you think so?
Marry Janny: Yes, I agree. The decoration is also important for the baby shower. I like to create things myself. I know that Dollar Tree has a lot of variety of places and cups, napkins that match.
Reporter: Let’s talk about the food for the baby shower.
Marry Janny: Ok, now on to the food. Food can really make an event. I like to spend a lot of time and effort in to food so you can use the venue if you have the venue. You can also have someone cater it in. Or you can do it like a potluck where other people can bring in food. Something very important to do is to ask the mother of the type of food she wants. The last thing you want to do is to have a hungry pregnant woman at her own event. So you have to make sure she is happy. So just ask her what she wants. If she likes meat and potato then have meat and potato at her baby shower. If she likes finger food or appetizer then have that. You can have sandwiches if she is simpler. You can also have pasta and meat balls, baked chicken and rice, green bean. It depends on the mother you want the guest of honor to have happy and enjoy the party.
Reporter: What else do we need for the party?
Marry Janny: Cake is another thing that you have to think about when it comes to food. If she likes chocolate so make sure that the cake has chocolate in it. The food is really important. Diaper cake is very popular for baby shower. I love to make cute diaper cake myself.
Reporter: Guests bring small gifts for the expectant mother. Typical gifts related to babies include diapers, blankets, baby bottles, clothes, and toys, am I right?
Marry Janny: Yes, you so right. Mothers are usually given pampering treats. It is common to open the gifts during the party; sometimes the host will make a game of opening. After opening all the gifts, the expectant mother will say her thank you words. That is usually a very emotional and tearful moment. So I think both the mother and the guests enjoy that moment very much.
